Off the Market: District Flea

From the creators of Brooklyn Flea, District Flea is quickly growing in popularity. Located in Shaw, the outdoor flea market features a variety of vendors. Of course, I had to go check out some of the one-of-kind home pieces that were up for sale. Here are some of my favorites:

This painting was the first thing that caught my eye. I was immediately drawn to the colors and texture. This vendor definitely had a beach-y feel but individual pieces could work if you were going for a more urban look.

This precious round table was only $60! It was well constructed and I loved the sort of whitewash finish. This little table gets added points for the extra shelf and the fact that it is on wheels. Mobility and storage! You can’t ask for more when decorating in a small space.

Like the table before, this coffee table is on wheels too. Other great features are the drawer and the drop-leaves. The leaves give you flexibility when you entertain. I guess it’s easy to see that this was my favorite vendor. However, I did find some cool accessories for anyone trying to make a space more masculine.

My first thought when I saw the vintage pool balls and dice was, “I have no idea what I would do with this but I like it.” The more i thought about it, they could be an unexpected filler in a vase or scattered in a bookcase. Same with the rusted sphere. Little things like this aren’t practical but they bring some interest to a space.

Out of all the great things that I saw, I left with this little guy and his zebra friend at only $2 a piece. All this person has done is taken the rubber figurines that we all had as kids, cut them in half, spray painted, and stuck a magnet on it. So simple and so fun. I will say that the butts weren’t nearly as popular as the heads.

Be sure to check out district flea before they shut down at the end of November. Happy hunting!
