30 Days

I often get emails from prospective renters who are trying to get ahead. They want to know if I know of properties that will be available weeks to months in advance. I understand the sentiment of wanting to plan ahead but the reality is that the DC rental market is a scramble. Most buildings require 30 day move out notices from tenants. This means that prospective tenants should get serious 30 days before their projected move in date. I often suggest that people start looking 60 days in advance just to get a feel for the market. If you know the market and know what you want, don’t get started early because you may just end up broken hearted. Here is an awesome one bedroom in my ideal location. The bad news, “please only inquire if you can move in within the next 30 days.” Looks like this place is up for grabs EBDC readers.
