TUESDAY

It seems pretty incredible that by this time next week, it’ll be after Labor Day. The summer is (sadly) coming to a close. Maybe the change of seasons mean it’ll be time for a new change of scenery in your living situation. Here are a few spots that may help you kickstart your new apartment aspirations (spoiler alert: a few have some fireplaces that will make you excited to say goodbye to summer!):

$2950 – 1 bd/1 ba – 1000 sq ft – Spacious two-story apartment with bay window, fireplace & off-street parking (Dupont Circle)

I hate to start you out with such a pricey one bedroom, but this one is worth taking a look at.

What makes it great: This apartment oozes charm – and not just because of the current decorating. It’s thanks mostly to the beautiful bay window that looks out to a prime location – blocks from Dupont Circle. An unheard of addition to an apartment in these parts: an off-street parking spot! The fact that there is a second floor to this apartment also gives it the homey feel that many of us crave once the temperatures drop (plus – a fireplace to warm it up even more!).

Extra perks: .2 mile walk from Dupont Circle metro, 5 closets, high ceilings

Why you may think twice: That dream of having the parking spot may be dashed by the price – it could go for a lot in these parts so if that’s a deal breaker, good luck!

$2150 – 1 bd/1 ba – 654 sq ft – Call a mansion home for the price of an apartment – all utilities included (Adams Morgan)

What makes it great: Look at it! This is the type of unique apartment that’ll keep your city dreams alive when your friends settle down and move out to the ‘burbs. It has all the makings of a historic home with the amenities we all hope for (and they’re ALL included). This appears to be one of the better deals for one bedrooms in this building (some are nearly $3k a month). You’ll look forward to winter thanks to the living room fireplace.

Extra perks: .5 mile walk from Columbia Heights metro, ALL utilities included, shared courtyard, washer/dryer in unit

Why you may think twice: As nice as some rooms look, others appear to be a lot to be desired. This is definitely a place you’ll need to see the inside of in person.

Love it but need something bigger? Check out the 2 bedroom available in the same building

$2400- 2 bd/2.5 ba – Renovated kitchen, private patio, & a bathroom just for guests in boutique brick building (Columbia Heights)

What makes it great: It seems hard to believe you’d be able to get a bathroom to yourself, a bathroom for a roommate AND a guest bathroom anywhere in the DMV for this price – and this is smack dab in the heart of it all! The outside of this building caught my eye, but it’s the description of what’s inside that has me even more curious.

Extra perks: .3 mile walk from Columbia Heights metro, private patio, washer/dryer in unit

Why you should think twice: I don’t want to fully believe it until I (or you) see it in person. The post talks a big game but has few photos.

$2050 – 2 bd/1 ba – 950 sq feet – 2-story apartment with renovated kitchen, breakfast counter (Brentwood/Eckington)

What makes it great: This is a great deal for a two-bedroom apartment so close to a Metro stop (red line). The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities are recently updated. It appears to have a great first floor for entertaining that is separated from bedrooms.

Extra perks: .3 mile walk to Metro (Rhode Island Ave/Brentwood), water included, walk-in closet in master bedroom

Why you may think twice: While close to Metro, this location is on busy Rhode Island Avenue. The front of the building appears to be a storefront/business so it may be loud. The post mentions the apartment is partly furnished- which may cause trouble if you’re well-stocked furniture-wise.
