If you’re looking to move this fall, this appears to be a good week to start looking. I narrowed down the search to apartments under $2k and found a few great options – both studios and one bedrooms all over the city. Happy home hunting!

$2000- 1 BD/1 BA – 594 sq feet – Nice Lovely 1 Bed 1 Bath Apt Unit (Adams Morgan)

What makes it great: Check out that view – and those floor to ceiling windows! This place will feel bright even on the dreariest DC winter days. Walking distance to many stores (Trader Joes, Target, etc.) and nightlife. Building amenities include fitness studio, rooftop grills, and common areas.

Why you may think twice: This may be a sublet situation – many of the buildings in this area are rentals only – and this post appears to be from an individual. No mention of monthly utilities – and this may come furnished. Worth checking up with the person ASAP if you’re interested!

$1350 – 1 BD/ 1 BA – 650 sq feet- English basement apt in Columbia Heights/ Petworth (Columbia Heights/Petworth)

00B0B_eiCgePCTJ6g_600x450What makes it great: This is a pretty good price for this location – and an apartment with defined rooms (not a studio). While a block from a Metro station, it is not too close to the hustle and bustle that you’ll be hearing it all night. This is the basement of a rowhome, so you’ll get some of the amenities of living in a house rather than an apartment (fenced in backyard, laundry, pets welcome etc.). This looks like a great place to get cozy – and ride out the DC winter! Basic utilities included in rent.

Why you may think twice: English basements tend to be dark and this unit is no exception. If the thought of dark winter days already make you cringe, you may want to find a new home on higher ground.

$1975 – 1 BD/ 1 BA – 750+ sq feet – IDEAL LOCATION Eastern Market (Capitol Hill)

00d0d_ehOQ1BHNo46_600x450

What makes it great: This apartment is oozing DC charm – it just needs a little TLC. It’s right across from the excitement of Eastern Market and just blocks from Metro stations and other transportation. The exposed brick in the kitchen and the exposed pipes could be really trendy with the right touch!

Why you may think twice: This is a basement unit – that’s not for everyone. The photos are a bit confusing – they appear to show two different bedrooms – so there may be some extra investigation needed about what you’re really in for.

$1625 – 0 BD/ 1 BA – 430 sq feet- Furnished U St/Adams Morgan studio, utilities included (U Street/AdMo)

01313_7JqAye2gcu8_600x450 What makes it great: This is a great location to call home- both for commuting and going out purposes! While this studio is a small space, it’s jam packed a lot of perks inside – without much clutter. You’ll have your own washer/dryer and decent storage space. If you’re hosting people before going out, the fold-out murphy bed tucks away for extra space. All utilities included.

Why you may think twice: This apartment is furnished – so if you don’t feel cozy with a bed and sofa just feet apart, you may need to look elsewhere. No parking – and this part of town can be frustrating to find a spot even with a permit.

$1700 – 1 BR – 560 sq feet – 16th Street Heights One Bedroom Apartment Includes Parking Spot (16th Street Heights)

00N0N_gTZZO2HmcLG_600x450

What makes it great: This apartment appears to have great natural light. It looks like the 570 square feet is well used. The $1700/month includes free laundry (in the building) and a parking spot.

Why you may think twice: Very limited info provided on here – so you’ll have to follow up with the landlord for most questions you’ll have. This location isn’t great if you don’t have a car – Metro access requires buses and/or long walks.
