TUESDAY

I pride myself on finding listings that are both charming and affordable. This week, I found that a bit tougher than usual – mostly on the charm aspect (plenty of units in new construction available)! Luckily, Craigslist always pulls through and I ended up with plenty to fill your feed with on this Tuesday. Check them out:

$2275 – 1 bd/1 ba – 590 sq feet- Stunning 1 BR/1BA DuPont Circle Apartment

What makes it great: This is one of my favorite buildings I’m determined to find a friend to move into: The Cairo is centrally  located in DuPont Circle and boasts one of the best views in town- thanks in part to it being the tallest residential building in DC. Perks include: access to rooftop deck, modern appliances, and all utilities included. (Plus those living room windows surrounded by exposed brick? If you move in, I’m coming for the house warming)

Why you may think twice: Earlier this season, I profiled a studio in this building for less than half the price. While that may have been a steal, even with the addition of doors – this may not be a great deal. But if you have the money to spend- it’s worth looking into!

$2100 – 1 BD/1 BA – 800 sq ft- Furnished 1 Bedroom (16th Street Heights)

What makes it great: The outdoor space on this listing caught my eye. This appears to be the ground floor or English basement level of a rowhome. The renovation is beautifully done: an updated bathroom, trendy kitchen, and open layout. You won’t need to bring any of your old Ikea hand-me-downs here since it comes fully furnished. The price also appears to include utilities, including cable and internet.

Why you may think twice: The listing leaves a lot to be desired (i.e. it doesn’t specify what level this is on/whether any amenities are shared with other residents). It is also advertised as being available for short term rentals – which could mean your neighbors are constantly changing too. Worth making the call to find out more.

$2450 – 1 BD/1 BA – 700 sq ft – Top floor, sunny, corner unit in Dupont – includes utilities

What makes it great: The floor to ceiling windows helped me to check charm off the list for this unit. It appears to have great natural light streaming through this tenth-floor unit. The breakfast bar and built-in closet also give it a homey feel. I also think it speaks volumes that the current tenant likes the apartment so much, she purchased the unit just below it. Having all utilities included is also a nice bonus.

Why you may think twice: Not much to complain about here from the listing. As with most units in this area, parking can be an issue. This building offers it for an additional cost (not specified).

$1595- 1 BD/1 BA – Modern Apartment near Stadium Armory Metro Station (H Street Corridor)

What makes it great: This apartment is proof that there can charm can exist in modern settings. If you look past the lack of furniture in this unit, there are some great accents that really give this place a cool vibe (red doors, kitchen counters & laundry machine, blue oven, orange shutters). This open concept makes it look spacious while still providing privacy for the bedroom.

Why you may think twice: This is a few blocks away from the action of the H Street Corridor – in a neighborhood setting. If you’re looking to be in the middle of the fun, you’ll have to keep looking (and pay more!)
