TUESDAY

It appears moving season has slowed down – there wasn’t much out there I was super excited about this week. But there are always a few hidden gems if you look close enough. Here are this week’s Craigslist finds!

$1600- 1 BD/1 BA – Warm & Cozy Columbia Heights rental

00f0f_fB9y53CrM4Y_600x450

Closest Metro station: .3 miles to Columbia Heights (Green Line)

Amenities: Heat, hot water (Tenant pays: electricity, gas, internet, cable)

What makes it great: Great looking apartment in a lively area – close to so many stores and restaurants.  This unit looks like it has the charm of many of DC’s older buildings, but is still in good shape. Beautiful hardwood floors and fireplace with mantle. Laundry facilities in basement (can use credit card).

Why you may think twice: No square footage listed – its tough to get an idea how big this place is so you may need to see it for yourself to make sure it isn’t tiny.

$1895 – 1 BD/ 1 BA – Lots of windows, Second Floor (Capitol Hill) 00G0G_2ZUxwaD1QGW_600x45000B0B_5YLzK0LrN86_600x450

Closest Metro: .4 miles to Eastern Market (Orange, Blue, Silver Lines)

Amenities: W/D in unit, dishwasher (No word on utilities)

What makes it great: The patio is what caught my eye originally – but the inside of this apartment looks like a nice little place to live! The patio provides good natural light – and the rest of the apartment looks relatively modern and well cared for. You’ll also have access to a fenced in yard (shared with three other units.)

Why you may think twice: This is a subletting situation – which may get complicated, especially because the current tenants plan to be out by this Saturday – so they may not be around much longer.

$2300- 1 BD + Den/ 1 BA  – 700 sq ft- Luminous one bed loft plus spacious den for rent

Closest Metro: .9 miles to Tenleytown (Red Line), 1 mile to Cleveland Park (Red Line)

Amenities: W/D in unit, dishwasher, central air/heat (Tenant pays: electric, wifi, cable)

What makes it great: I saw one of these lofts in person when I was looking to buy a condo – if you like loft living, the ones in McLean Gardens are pretty great. They have great natural light and the great bones of an older building that’s been updated recently. There is also a TON of storage space. The neighborhood itself has all the perks of a suburban gated community (swimming pool, fitness center, BBQ areas, etc.). Buses run down Wisconsin Ave constantly – and two Red Line stations aren’t too far away.

Why you may think twice: If you’re not going to use the den as a second bedroom – $2700 can be a steep price to pay for just one

$4080- 3 BD/ 2 BA – 1400 sq ft- Spacious Renovated 3-Bed Condo in Kalorama

00l0l_3VZwyk2NEcY_600x450

Closest Metro: .4 miles to Dupont Circle (Red Line)

Amenities: W/D in unit (Tenant pays: all utilities)

What makes it great: There have been some really incredible multi-bedroom units lately – and here’s another great find. Split evenly among three people, you could share this great condo for just $1360/month. This unit is in the process of being renovated – so you’ll be the first to enjoy most of the amenities it offers. It looks like each of the bedrooms is a decent size – all complete with hardwood floors and nice-sized windows. This location is great – walking distance to a ton of great restaurants and shops.

Why you may think twice: This unit is still under renovation – before jumping in to sign a lease, I’d take a look in person to make sure it really will be move-in ready when your current lease is up!
