The Team

Hello everyone! My name is John Anderson and I reside in the West End, but am originally from Richmond, Virginia. I am passionate supporter of the arts – having graduated with a double degree in Music and Marketing from The College of William & Mary, now working as a full-time fundraiser/data-junkie at Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. In DC, I am oftentimes working with my professional arts networking group or going to a performance at one in the District’s many concert venues. I first started following EBDC closely several years ago when I was looking for a place for me and my two friends to live and became immediately hooked. I am especially excited to be joining the team as a contributor to marry my love of data and numbers with Craigslist-stalking (which is in and of itself an incredibly addicting activity!). Otherwise, you can find me playing cello with my self-organized string quartet, training for my next marathon, trip planning, or tasting drinks at my neighborhood wine bar. I am all about finding the best bang for your buck – whether it comes to food, travel, or apartment-hunting, and am looking forward to taking a strategic and analytical approach to my future posts on EBDC. Cheers!

Former expat dependent, repatriated to DC! Seven countries and countless moves later, I realize that a little sacrifice goes a long way when making your home. I’ve lived in the area for about 3 years and have made a 550 square foot studio with a walk-in closet in Kalorama my own. I enjoy places with a great location and a lot of character. When you end up in a place like DC with high prices and small spaces, interior design makes a huge difference. I am a government contractor with a strong addiction to iced coffee and love for exploring our ever-changing neighborhoods, travel, and ducking into shops to further my aspiration of making my apartment the perfect mix of an art museum and Pottery Barn… on a budget

Originally from North Carolina, Cara grew up in the land of furniture manufacturing and has always had an appreciation for great design. She first applied her interest in interiors while trying to make extra money in college, writing for an accessories magazine during High Point Furniture Market – the home furnishings industry’s largest trade show. For nearly four years now, Cara’s called Washington, D.C. home. Having moved three times, to three different neighborhoods, Cara prides herself on finding “hidden gems” filled with character at realistic price points. After discovering two apartments via EBDC, Cara looks forward to helping more readers find their next home!

Originally from Baltimore, Alex moved to DC in 2016 after nine years of living in Florida (she’s a proud University of Miami graduate). While she misses the year-round the warmth and sunshine, she’s grateful to be back to a city that appreciates exposed brick, hardwood floors, and charm. Alex lived in Adams Morgan and Glover Park before deciding to dive into home ownership. She loves trying new restaurants and exploring DC so if you have suggestions, send them her way!
