Lyric 440

If you are a frequent reader, you know that EBDC is home to all places historic and charming. As much as I love the character that comes from older buildings, I can’t ignore the development boom going on in downtown DC. My trip to Lyric 440 proves that new construction can be equally stunning. The ultra sleek architecture catches your eye as soon as you approach the 14 story building. My main takeaway is that brand new construction has some serious perks! All 234 units were constructed with the modern dweller in mind.

Once inside there is a noticeable attention to detail. The lobby is pristine and staff works around the clock to make sure every chair and flower arrangement is perfectly placed. As I walked in, I noticed fresh coffee being served, tenants taking their dogs for walks, and the resident concierge coordinating valet dry cleaning. I can imagine that living in Lyric 440 may feel more like a luxury hotel than your average downtown apartment. Speaking of above average- this place has unbelievable amenities.

There are two gym options. You can workout for free at Lyric 440 or get a discounted membership at Vida across the street. I was more interested in the outdoor living areas. The rooftop is unreal. There is a gorgeous pool, comfy seating around a fire pit, grills, and a club room. Behind the building there is a tranquilly garden, complete with lounge seating and an outdoor gas fireplace. They offer garage parking and access to Zipcar (the vehicles are for building tenants only.)

If the amenities don’t have you sold, shots from the interior should do the the trick. Again, these places are brand new. Lyric 440 just welcomed their first tenants in January. Ever since then, units have been going quickly. It is not unusual for multiple units to lease in one day. There are few two bedrooms available and few one bedrooms with dens available. However, they do have plenty of traditional one bedrooms. These one bedrooms start as low as $2350 a month. I get that that might be a lot to swing if you are on your own, but this place is an absolute deal for young couples.  Also be sure to ask about any special promotions.

The one bedroom unit that is pictured has all the bells and whistles. Features include  a brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, breakfast islands, and a wine rack. The bathroom is spa-like and connects to both the bedroom and living area. Floor to ceiling windows showcase stunning views and provide tons of natural light.
