THURSDAY

A few weeks ago, I posted a neighborhood spotlight on Capitol Hill. In today’s post, I’ve chosen to highlight the ever-popular Shaw neighborhood. It seems like available apartments in this area get swept up immediately. If you don’t know someone leaving their spot, or you’re not into living in a managed building, it’s nearly impossible to find a place. Hopefully this post will help make you a new resident of the Shaw neighborhood in no time:

Exterior
$3995 / 3br – 1740ft2 – Beautiful 2 Level Row Home in Shaw (Washington)
Why you’ll love it: I chose to highlight a photo of this property’s exterior because it gives me major Full House flashbacks. You have to click through to see the gorgeous renovations. The owner spared no expenses updating this place, it’s absolutely gorgeous. When split three-ways, the price is a steal for Shaw. Another major selling point, is its close proximity to Dacha Beer Garden.

Why you should think twice: Big row houses like this often come with high utility bills, but think about how much you’ll save on cab fare when living within walking distance of so many cool restaurants and bars!

Bigtownhouse
$3195 / 2br – 1400ft2 – Large Townhouse 2Br/1.5Ba 3 Blocks U St – Shaw Metro (U St, Shaw, Logan)
What makes it great:
Located at the cross-section of U Street and Shaw neighborhoods, this space is perfect for roomies. My inner history nerd likes that they kept the exterior true to the buildings original facade. The house also features an awesome back patio (more about my love for outdoor spaces below).

What I don’t love: The interior finishes are not really my style, but you could certainly spruce it up with new furniture.

truxton
$3000 / 2br – 1278ft2 – $3000 2BDRM 2.5 Bth Truxton Circle/Mt. Vernon
Why you’ll love it:
This large two bedroom is a beautifully renovated row house, which allows pets and has a 600 square feet fenced in back yard, making it an ideal option for those with furry friends.

Why you should keep looking: All the boxes are checked for me here, but Truxton Circle is a busy area, some might find it too loud.

patio
$1850 / 1br – 750ft2 – 1 BR 1 BA with Huge Backyard in Shaw (511 P St NW)
Why I love it: I am a big fan of outdoor spaces, and this place certainly delivers on that want. The back patio is massive, and nicely landscaped, perfect for fall tailgating. Of the interior photos posted, the unit seems like a spacious, upgraded one bedroom in an ideal location. The rent is already a good price for the area, but what makes it even better is that you’re only responsible for electricity (and I assume cable/internet).

Why you should think twice: 750 square feet isn’t that much space, but with a patio like this, I’d spend more time outside anyway!

The weekend is in sight, EBDC readers!
Until next week,
Cara
