After a successful weekend in Charlottesville, I decided to try my luck in DC’s consignment/flea market scene. I explored two outdoor markets, U Street Flea (not to be confused with District Flea) and DCMeet Market. I went to U Street Flea the first week it was open and was a little turned off. The quality was not good and felt more like a NYC back alley. I decided to give it another shot on Saturday and was glad to see some new vendors. My favorite piece was an antique chest of drawers in a gray-blue color, only $275. DCMeet Market was an awesome scene but was lacking in home decor. Simon Vintage is a cute shop in Shaw. They have great deals. There was neat drawing of a vintage Mercedes for only $18. I left with a measuring cup, priced at $2. Miss Pixie’s had a lot of great pieces but most were too big for my soon to be tiny apartment. A red nesting table caught my eye but I really fell in love with the mirror. It was a steal at only $45. Fingers crossed it is still there because I can’t stop thinking about it.
