The past few years I have been in DC, Cathedral Heights has changed drastically– in a good way. This strip of Wisconsin Avenue has the charm of neighborhood eateries like 2 Amys and Cactus Cantina. However, Cathedral Commons has brought a brand new Giant, CVS, and the hot gym, Solidcore– just to name a few. Glover Park is short walk away. In the heart of it all you may not have even noticed, The Fleetwood. Perfectly tucked away off of Wisconsin Avenue, this small apartment building has just finished a major renovation.
I have seen some crummy renovations but this one was done with careful consideration. Architects, interior designers, and other professionals were all heavily involved in the process. Trust me, the landlord didn’t just stain the cabinets and call it a renovation. When you walk in, you get more of a condo feel than a rental building feel. It is intimate and friendly, with a great sense of community. Now to the details:
The building has 1920’s charm but the full renovation makes everything feel so fresh. You will essentially be the first person occupying one of these units. The floors have been refinished, there are new appliances, new cabinets, new paint, new windows, new bathrooms– the list goes on. The biggest game changer is brand new, in unit washer and dryers. Other great features include UBS plugs and tenant controlled heating and cooling. Units on the fourth floor have 10 foot ceilings and fireplaces. Firewood is provided by the landlord.
Good renovations are a great selling point but what makes The Fleetwood different is its sense of community. This is a common thread between tenants and between tenants and management. The landlord alluded to tenant organized cocktail parties on the third floor. Every other door had a welcome mat or wreath. This shows that tenants are happy and proud to call The Fleetwood home. The Fleetwood is family owned and they take pride in maintaining the building. For example, all one bedrooms are $1895. They wont nickel and dime you for a few extra square feet. The price is the price. Simple and easy to understand.
Pet parents, rejoice! The Fleetwood is pet friendly and one tenant is the building’s unofficial dog walker.
