LEASED

When I first moved to DC, I lived in a generic high rise building filed with carpet and dated appliances in Cleveland Park. It wasn’t anything special but sadly, it was all I could afford. Young professionals, new to the city, often write in asking how they can get their dream studio apartment on U Street with exposed brick for $1200. Guess what? You can’t. Get a roommate and get over it.

As someone just starting out, you are going to have to make some sacrifices. However, I can assure you that it is well worth it. My apartment wasn’t great but I had extra cash to go out in Georgetown every weekend– back when that was cool. Now, I have so much more appreciation for my apartment because I know what it is like to live in a generic space. Below are some options for fellow recent grads who need a deal. I know your pain.
