I have been teasing you with a few shots of The Truxton, a boutique apartment building on the corner of North Capitol and Florida Avenue. You know that I love small, historic apartment buildings. There is more of sense of community and you are less likely to have awful cookie cutter apartments. The Truxton has beautiful historic details paired with modern luxuries. The apartments sat empty for 30 years before developers came in and discovered the potential of the space. The only reason we know this is because when developers came in, they found a calendar hanging on the wall from the 80’s. Pretty crazy stuff right? That old calendar came down but there were other elements that were left untouched. For example, you will die when you see the clawfoot tubs. It is rare that you find the feet so well intact. It’s like this whole place was stuck in a time warp. They modernized the tubs by painting them all different colors. The colors range from a moody black to a cheerful mint green.
The Truxton only has eight units total and they are going fast. Currently they have one bedrooms starting at $2425 and two bedroom/two bathrooms starting at $2950. If that feels steep, The Truxton is offering some specials. Right now they are offering $1000 off the first month’s rent and a really cool restaurant credit. They are offering a $400 gift card for one bedrooms and a $500 gift for two bedrooms to one or a combination of restaurants in the neighborhood. Isn’t this such a fun way to explore your new hood? So much better than a stupid iPod shuffle or Visa gift card.
The first place you are going to want to see is this awesome one bedroom. First of all, check out of all of this light! Typically it can be difficult to get a lot of light in a one bedroom because there simply isn’t enough wall space. By creating a long and narrow space, you get to enjoy tons of windows. What is even cooler about this floor plan is the layered pocket doors. I am not sure if layered is the right way to describe them but essentially you pull out three pockets doors that are connected to each other to close off the bedroom. This gives you the option for a bedroom when needed and the ability to have a true loft-like open space when you want it. Such a good idea.
On the other side of the building are two bedroom units. The two bedroom units are spacious and I have to say, have awesome custom closets. You also get a sneak peek at one those awesome tubs! As you scroll through these pictures, notice the finishes. Of course I love the farm sinks, pendant lighting, and feature wall. What is nice about these units too is that there have two bathrooms. This makes it so much easier for a roommate setup.
Last but not least is the rooftop. Enjoy 360 degree views of DC, a green space, and really cool art.
Overall The Truxton is really nicely done and has an extremely high level of detail for a rental building. I love that they kept original details and touches of urban flair. Check the shots below of the lobby and exterior. If you want to learn more about The Truxton, email me or go to their website.
