It finally is starting to feel like fall – is it getting you inspired to find a new home to cuddle up in this winter? Here are a few I found posted this week – all with amenities you can use as the temperatures cool off!
$1995 – 1 BD – 700 sq feet – Fireplace, exposed brick & an outdoor patio (Logan Circle)
What makes it great: I love how this place combines the charm of an older DC rowhome with the updated amenities most of us are used to. The exposed brick and fireplace will make it feel cozy – and a newly remodeled kitchen takes away the kinks many of us who live in older apartments have to deal with. Other perks include a washer/dryer, dishwasher and walk-in closet. There’s also a great garden patio to enjoy this fall (shared with other tenants). A parking spot is also available for an additional $200/month.
Why you may think twice: Ground-floor apartments aren’t for everyone. The patio access is above street level, but if you avoid first floor units, keep looking.
$1600- 0 BD – 502 square feet – Bright, furnished studio with tons of building amenities (Dupont Circle)
What makes it great: This place is a great deal if you’re just moving to the area or if you don’t have much furniture of your own yet. The price includes a fully (and it appears, nicely!) furnished studio in a building with access to a great rooftop deck, pool and grilling area. While it may be too cold to take advantage of the pool, this location will provide great views of the city! 24 hour front desk – utilities included (cable/internet not mentioned).
Why you may think twice: Living in a pre-furnished apartment isn’t for everyone. Even if you love the look, putting your own things in storage to live here may not be worth the deal.
$2500- 1 BD – 688 square feet – An apartment straight out of a DC drama series (Kalorama)
What makes it great: This is the kind of apartment I feel like you’d see on a TV show about DC. The living room nook with the rounded walls is incredible – and could be such a cozy spot to curl up in this winter! The wood burning fireplace will help keep it toasty! I also love the high ceilings and the full wall of closet space in the bedroom.
Why you may think twice: This is one of those units I couldn’t help but include, despite the price. It’s pricey for just one bedroom. The kitchen also looks like it may be a bit small if you spend a lot of time cooking
$3350 – 3 BD – Three floors of living space and a patio to call your own (LeDroit Park)
If your fall plans include moving in with friends, this may be a great option for you!
What makes it great: This rowhome is appealing – from the curb to the basement and through the rest of the house! While its been renovated, the hardwood floors and French doors keep the charm alive! The patio gives you some outdoor space to enjoy when the weather is nice! 2.5 bathrooms will make sharing the space with others a little easier than some other group homes you’ll find.
Why you may think twice: One of the full bathrooms is in the basement – it could be a long (and chilly!) walk from a morning shower to get back to the bedrooms on the second floor. Tenants are responsible for all utilities – so if you have a future roomie on a tight budget, this may push them over their limit.
