I didn’t intend to do a spotlight on Columbia Heights today, but there are certainly good options opening up in that area. Also included in today’s listing are some beautiful Victorian-Era row houses worth checking out. Hope one of these options becomes your next home!
$2600 / 2br – 1000ft2 – Bright, spacious, 2BR/1.5 Bath apartment in Columbia Heights!
What makes it great: A beautiful, large two bedroom option in Columbia Heights at an affordable price point! I don’t see this beauty staying open for much longer. My favorite feature is the cherry hardwoods throughout, and that they will let you have pets (with landlord’s approval) — there’s a great dog park in Columbia Heights not too far from here.
Why you should keep looking: I see there’s a window A/C unit, if you’re used to central A/C the transition could be tough. Window units are powerful and will keep you cool, but can be noisy.
$2400 / 1br – 1100ft2 – Charming Fully Furnished Eng Bsmnt (Columbia Heights)
Why you’ll love it: As you can tell from the photos, this English Basement is packed with some serious style. The location is ideal too — heart of Columbia Heights and walk-able to areas like U Street and Adams Morgan.
What you need ask: No mention of the lease length, or utilities, ask about these important details before touring, as the landlord might be looking for a sublease or short-rental period.
$1750 / 1br – 750ft2 – Charming victorian 1 bdrm with second quest room and parking (bloomingdale, MoMa)
What makes this great: I was immediately drawn to this building’s beautiful Victorian exterior, and the price made me want to include it. This one bedroom seems to include a “home office” which could translate into a second bedroom if big enough, making this a wonderful low-cost option.
Why you should think twice: questionable color choice for the kitchen, but there is such a thing as removable wallpaper now people!
$1425 / 1br – Bedroom in Beautiful Rowhouse between Dupont and Logan Circle (Washington)
Why you’ll love it: Another beautiful row hose, and apparently this room is the “largest bedroom you’ve ever seen!”
Why it might not work: I don’t typically include bedroom options, so note that this is one room in a house full of roommates. Group house living can be fun (I promise). If you’re new to the area, this is the best way to make instant friends.
$1400 / 1br – 800ft2 – Large one-bedroom Basement Apartment (utilities included) (Columbia Heights)
Why I’d choose it: Price, price, price! Rarely am I coming across affordable one bedrooms, and this English Basement, while small-ish, is a great deal. Any unit with utilities included is one you should consider. Also, this apartment is near sought-after Columbia Heights bars and restaurants, like Wonderland Ballroom.
Why I’d keep looking: The kitchen is awkwardly laid out, you’ll see in the photos that the fridge is standing separately from the rest of the space.
Until Next Week!
