MONDAY

EBDC

Happy Monday, readers! Today I focused my search on Capitol Hill properties. I am really pleased with the results – a few hidden gems here:

The drill: MASSIVE English Basement in the hear of Capitol HIll / adjacent to the H Street district. The post claims that the space is 1600 square feet (is that a misprint?!). I like the wooden floors throughout – and it looks like there is a fair amount of closet space. Owner occupies the top floors of the row house – which is great in case anything goes wrong.
Why you might think twice: A bit farther from a metro station, but you are only 1 block away to Street Cars. The kitchen isn’t massive, but it has everything you could possibly need!
The drill: I think that this boutique building is really cute – there are 16 units in all! This apartment is a ground floor unit with nice light and 10 foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and a small rear patio. I especially like the kitchen area – nice features!
Why you might think twice: Square footage isn’t listed, so it is a little bit hard to tell exactly how good of a deal you are getting. Really nice overall, though.
The drill: Large and bright English basement! From the photos, it looks like you are getting a lot of natural light, something that you do not always get in English basement – so this is certainly a plus. I especially like the hardwood floors and unique kitchen fixtures/layout. Lots of storage space which is super convenient. Close walk to Union Station!
Why you might think twice: Hard to think of many reasons why not to move here – perhaps you could find an event cheaper price point for an English basement…? Lots to love here!
The drill: Absolutely stunning – WOW. This posting is listed a the ‘Castle on the Corner and it certainly lives up to its name. The 2 BD apartment is part of a Stunning Victorian mansions, just one block away from Lincoln Park and an easy walk to Eastern Market. It features beautiful hardwood floors, and an incredible rounded bay living room with exposed brick – builtin bookshelves and open renovated kitchen, and convenient outdoor space.
Why you might think twice: A little bit pricier than some of the other options listed today.
The drill: Bright basement – and even cheaper than the English basement posted above! This unit starts with its spacious living room, featuring a decorative fireplace, tiling, and high ceilings. There is plenty of light in the space, and the open kitchen makes it welcoming. I especially like the bedroom’s tiling and fireplace which gives it a unique aesthetic. Just put a nice rug down for colder winter days 🙂
Why you might think twice: Pretty far away from what most consider the “action” of Washington DC, but you are not far away from the Eastern Market and Stadium Armory metro locations.
