It has been a few weeks now since my last neighborhood spotlight, so today’s post is featuring spots in Adams Morgan, and neighboring Kalorama. For the majority of my time living in D.C. I’ve done so in Adams Morgan and Kalorama. This area is often underlooked with neighborhoods like Shaw and Logan Circle garnering so much attention lately. Adams Morgan has an interesting history, and maintains a cool eclectic vibe you don’t see elsewhere. Kalorama oozes old-school glamour and prestige. Many people assume the area is for recent grads and associate the neighborhood with boisterous partiers, but stop by any Saturday morning and you’ll find families strolling to Kalorama Park, and friends gabbing over bagels at So’s Your Mom. Clearly, I have an affection for this area, and am confident you will too.
$2700 / 2br – 1150ft2 – Large 2BR/1BA with patio access in hip Adams Morgan — Avail ! NOW ! (Adams Morgan)
What makes it great: I love how spacious this two bedroom English Basement is. The front room is large, and they’ve kept the kitchen nice and open. For a two bedroom of this size, the price couldn’t be better. What also makes this a fabulous find is the fact that you’d only be responsible for electrice — there is no gas utility. One thing I wish I had is an open space. This apartment’s back patio will make you the envy of your friends.
What I don’t love: I am not in love with the dark finishes. I’d recommend you brighten this place up with new curtains and an area rug.
$2050 / 1br – Condo with Patio / Adams Morgan – Kalorama Triangle
Why it rocks: On days like today, I wish I had a fireplace! This place also has a patio, so it’s perfectly cozy in the winter, and open in summer.
What concerns me: This post is lacking detail. There’s no word on how much utilities will run you, or what amenities the building offers. You should ask about this when you inquire.
$1788 / 1br – 470ft2 – RENOVATED/NOW LEASING/Adams Morgan (Adams Morgan)
What makes it great: You can’t beat this apartment’s price, especially considering it’s convenience to Meridian Hill Park. The building was recently updated to include gleaming hardwood floors and granite countertops. It looks like some of the closets have built-in shelving for storage.
Why it may not work: This apartment is classified as a one bedroom, but the description mentions studios being available. Make sure you clarify with the leasing agent what exactly you’d be signing up for.
$2850 / 2br – 1032ft2 – Beautiful 2BR/1BA Kalorama/Dupont/Adams Morgan, Featured Building (Kalorama, Dupont, Adams Morgan)
What makes it great: I’ve saved the best for last today. I have long envied those who live in this Kalorama condo building. This place is quintessential Kalorama in that it is an older building with stunning details. If you’re looking for a quiet yet convenient location, you’ve found your new home.
Why you should think twice: Of the options I’ve featured today, this is the most-pricey. I do think it’s entirely worth it. This building rarely has openings. Considering it is a condo building, you could negotiate the price down with the unit’s owner.
