Happy new year! After a long hiatus, I am trying to get back in the swing of things. I spent the morning scoping out open houses and here are my picks for this weekend. Shoot me an email at jamie@exposedbrickdc.com to get more information on date, time, and location.
Anti-Flip House in Columbia Heights: $799,000
I recently read a fun little article in Architectural Digest that asked designers which trends they hope will disappear in 2019. One designer exclaimed, “Save the dining room!” I could not agree more. I am so over the huge living/dining combo space. I lay awake dreaming about having my own formal dining room one day. Sigh. That is a big reason why this house in Columbia Heights makes the list. It has all the amazing features of an older home and tons of character. There are also some modern touches like a slightly updated kitchen and a finished basement.
Sweet Little Reno in Brookland: $649,000
I continue to have a soft spot in my heart for Brookland. This house is actually closer to the Rhode Island Ave metro station than the Brookland station which may be more desirable for some. Flips aren’t usually my cup of tea but this one has some cute features. What is especially appealing is that there is a little in-law suite in the basement. Parking is another huge bonus.
Super Spacious Two Bedroom in Columbia Height with Parking: $619,950
This two bedroom is on the ground floor which is not ideal for some but it has other key features that make it worth considering. I will always be a sucker for a fireplace so immediately I am interested. I also feel like this unit has been nicely updated but still feels charming due to the exterior. Another huge selling point is the 1000+ square feet of living space and parking. In my opinion, this is way better than cramming into a newer building with tiny units.
Fixer-Upper Project in Woodley: $225,000
Calling all design junkies, this your chance to gut a place and make it yours. This little studio in Woodley Park is begging for a facelift. It may look scary but trust me, this place has potential. There are already sweet little built-in shelves, a private balcony, and a walk-in closet. Assuming everything is in working order, you could absolutely live through the reno. Any takers?
