I have a confession to make. When my current owners bought me, they had no idea that I was a historic, original, Sears Kit Home from 1926! They thought they were just buying a charming home, with original finishes (trim, moldings, baseboards) and original floors, that they could modernize over time and make their own. It wasn’t until after the current owners (one of which also happens to be the listing agent) moved in and started fixing me up, that they learned of my story. Somewhere between the owner building the kitchen from scratch, adding in AC and swapping out the windows to keep me cool in the summers, updating my wiring, renovating my bathrooms, meeting the neighbors and hearing their stories, and slowly polishing me back to my original glory, did they learn- I am one of only five Sears Vallonia models in DC! There are articles written about me. I’m kind of a big deal. I’ve heard them call me a “quintessential bungalow” with “good bones” but I don’t know what any of that means. They say I have amazing “natural light” and sit on a lot that’s “huge by DC standards. ” And apparently I have something called a “separate apartment” in the basement that could be a perfect “AirBNB. ” All I know is that I’m warm, cozy, and ready to love on whoever the new owners will be. Come see me for yourself before it’s too late!
