Welcome to the C&P Telephone Building and Unit 103. Meticulously remodeled in 2019, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a Manhattan loft, but with the steps of Congress within reach. Every detail was thought through to make this a unique, beautiful, and functional space. As you enter the unit, you’ll immediately be drawn to the kitchen. The countertops are Marmoreal slab, a unique terrazzo sourced from only one producer in Italy and featured in Dwell and Architectural Digest. High-end appliances included a Bertazzoni induction range, as well as the Bertazzoni dishwasher, and iconic Smeg refrigerator. The floors in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom are original to the building during the C&P Telephone Company’s time. In the kitchen, you’ll note a rectangle cut out and covered with custom protective glass where the original floor was damaged. This feature celebrates the history, the timeless look of the smooth penny tile, and a humorous architectural dig sentiment. Pass through custom cherry accordion doors past the coat/broom closet to the bathroom. Enjoy a luxuriously large soaking tub with option for a handheld shower while listening to music via bluetooth speakers in the fan vents. The marble sink and Brizo faucet maintain a high-end, modern but classic look. The living space can be configured in multiple ways. Sitting “room” by the fire and dining on the left, or otherwise. Custom salvaged cherry from a local farm hides the cord of the Mouille wall light, the arms of which can be adjusted around how you structure your furniture in the space. The shelf above the window to the kitchen is also from the same salvaged cherry. The bedroom loft captures natural light from the oversized windows of the main level and fits a queen sized bed well. The bathroom features custom salvaged barn word from a local farm for its door, shelving, and sink vanity. The sink faucet is bronze with a living finish. The tiling is high-end cement tiles from Cle Tile. The hardwood flooring was preserved wherever possible. Up the couple of stairs into the “attic”, you have built in closet shelving, drawers, and racks, a Samsung washer/dryer set, and ample storage space. The small loft to the right was custom-designed to fit a full-size mattress in case you need extra bed-space and works well as an in-home office space. The building features a rooftop terrace overlooking Capitol Hill with views of the Capitol and additional storage assigned to the unit. Located on 6th and Constitution NE, it is steps from Stanton Park’s incredible cherry blossoms, and a brief walk to the U.S. Capitol Complex, Eastern Market and Union Station.
