OTM: District Mansion

What would you pay to live in a DC mansion? The cost may not be as much as you think. How about $1275 a month? If you have five friends willing to split the cost, this could be a reality. This particular DC mansion has been calling my name. Over the weekend, I just happened to walk past it and saw multiple “for rent” signs in the yard. I thought that it might be one of those word-of-mouth places that you can only find by hitting the pavement. Unable to see inside, I passed it by. Then the house managed to find me again. While searching through Craigslist it popped up. I have to think that it is a sign. So here it is- a six bedroom, historic Dupont mansion for $8000 a month.

It’s up to you to decide if this historic mansion is glamorous or a little bit creepy. The home has been renovated and looks like it is in decent shape. However, there is no way to get rid of the squeaky floorboards and drafty windows synonymous with homes of this age. There are numerous pros and cons to this place but what you are really getting is location. Located on the corner of 17 and Q, this may be too good of location to pass up.
