As promised, here it my take on 1841 Columbia Road, professionally managed by UIPPM. I was immediately interested in seeing this building because it is in my ideal location. In fact, it is right across the street from the Norwood. This is another UIPPM overhaul. They have completely renovated the units and added some awesome features. My favorite is the rooftop. The rooftop happens to be the largest residential rooftop in Adams Morgan. What made this tour really fun is that the agent showed me before and after pictures as we went along. What makes it great: There is no doubt that these renovations are impressive. These units have top-notch amenities which include an in-unit washer and dryer, stainless steel appliances, and an entire energy efficient heating and cooling system. You can tell that there was an attention to detail. Beyond the actual apartment, I really enjoyed the staff. I was particular impressed by everyone’s interaction. It seemed like the entire team was friendly and got along well with one another. That is the kind of environment I would I want to be a part of.
Why I may think twice: I had a few concerns. The unit was too small for me. I think I really ruined my perception of studios by starting out at the Norwood. Second, there is still some construction going on. As you can see, they had a lot of work to do and that is still in progress. I could definitely here some loud construction going on from the hallway, some of the hallways had plastic to protect the carpet, and there was a lighting issue in the stairwell. I have to cut them some slack though because they have done ALL of this in only about two years.
