What makes it great: It can be tough to find an english basement with character. It can be even harder to find one that is both appealing and affordable. I was immediately struck but the lived-in, cozy feel of this one bedroom. The dark hardwoods, exposed beam, and fireplace, make this place feel more like a little house than a basement. The bedroom is separate and there is a private entrance. There is shared yard and grilling area. There is a washer and dryer in-unit. Georgetown University is within walking distance.
Why you should think twice: Foxhall is definitely more suburban and it’s a little bit tough to get around, especially without a car. An english basement has drawbacks- less light, security, etc. Not available until June 1.
