Driving into Glover Park, I am always reminded of how beautiful it truly is. I took a cab from Dupont, up Massachusetts Ave, and passed embassy after embassy. Glover Park is truly an oasis from downtown DC. It’s removal from the city comes with the assumption that it is inaccessible. I have had the same thoughts myself. However, during rush hour I was pleasantly surprised to see people making the commute by bus, bike, or even walking from Dupont Circle. I found that this misconception was the first of many, all proven wrong by my trip to Sherry Hall.
Sherry Hall is professionally managed by an extremely reputable and well established management company, WC Smith. It is located right on Wisconsin Avenue. This is where my second misconception comes in. I though that to really experience Glover Park, you had to be smack in the middle. False. Sherry Hall is a less than five minute walk from the heart of Glover Park and I actually think that is appealing. It is nice to be somewhat removed from the scene.
Darla, the property manager who lives on-site, was incredibly easy to work with. She answered emails promptly and was excited to show me around. When I arrived, she was talking with a tenant who said, “Move here. This is seriously the best building ever.” A spontaneous endorsement like that is tough to beat.
The real selling point of Sherry Hall are the prices. They have some amazing deals. You can get a TRUE one bedroom apartment, all utilities included for under $1400. These units are not run down either. The one I saw had hardwood floors, a brand new kitchen, and space to spare. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount of closet space. In this particular unit there are three very distinct spaces (four if you count the small foyer). There is clear separation between the kitchen, living room, and bedroom. Darla and her team are working to get floor plans drawn up for each unit. In the meantime, you will just have to take my word for it. I got a sneak peek at a studio that had just rented for $1125! It was bright and had a great view. If you are on a budget, Sherry Hall is a place to keep on your radar. There are several units coming on the market and I am certain they won’t last long.
Speaking of a great view. Sherry Hall has an awesome rooftop. You can clearly see the National Monument, The Capital, and the National Cathedral is so close you feel like you can reach out and touch it.
The final selling point of this area is safety. Bad things can happen anywhere but the “Glover bubble” is a real thing. This area is truly peaceful. Darla made a great point. She said, “Vice President Biden lives only a few blocks away. You could be surrounded by police and not even know it.” Thanks Secret Service.
