Happy Monday, readers! Welcome to the new week. Today’s sample is a spotlight on studios (and couple of really small 1 BRs) in the the city. While a tiny space might not be the right fit for me at this point in my life, it makes sense for a lot of people and can be a really excellent value! See below:
$1695 / 1br – 1 bedroom English basement apartment near Petworth metro (Columbia Heights)
Quick stats: [square feet not listed]
0.7 miles / 4 minutes walk to nearest metro (Columbia Heights)
The drill: Though not technically a studio (there is also no square footage listed) I can assume that based on the price point and photos that the square footage might be on the low side. I especially like the hardwood floors (not always common in English basements), abundance of natural light, and fully equipped kitchen. Super close to all things happening in Columbia Heights – read: Target shopping trips all the time. Decent price for such a beautiful property!
Why you might think twice: No square footage is listed, so it is hard to exactly gauge how great of a deal this is.
Quick stats: $1919 / 353 square feet = $5.44 per square foot.
0.2 miles / 4 minutes walk to nearest metro (Mt. Vernon Square)
The drill: The metro is LITERALLY right outside your door, which is definitely a blessing. some really great features in this property that stood out to me – granite counters, sunny bay window, integrated in-wall flat screen. There is a note that the apartment is 90% unfurnished and that the current tenant might try to sell a piece. From the photos, might be worth checking out! Fully equipped in all senses.
Why you might think twice: Pretty pricy for such a small space!
Quick stats: $2200 / 500 square feet = $4.40 per square foot.
0.8 miles / 11 minutes walk to nearest metro (U Street)
The drill: I absolutely love the features in this studio. The floors, the kitchen, the private balcony (!). Beyond that, you get individually controlled A/C, which I have really grown to appreciate this summer. The apartment is located in a really fun area (U Street) and definitely won’t last.
Why you might think twice: A bit expensive for this space – though it is on the larger side for studios.
Quick stats: $1620 / 450 square feet = $3.60 per square foot
0.4 miles / 8 minutes walk to nearest metro (Dupont Circle North)
The drill: Though this isn’t a studio technically, it might as well be at 450 square feet. Really interesting property here! I love the exposed brick throughout – really neat looking. The price point includes all your utilities, which is nice. Besides the exposed brick, I especially like the soft green wall in the living area.
Why you might think twice: Not a huge fan of the Mexican tile – but could be fun. Not an incredible amount of information provided in the posting (like some extra features) but it does appear that the kitchen, at the very least, is fully equipped.
Quick stats: $1495 / 400 square feet = $3.74 per square foot
0.6 miles / 14 minutes walk to nearest metro (Dupont Circle)
The drill: Georgetown living at a decent price! What’s great about the location of this apartment is that it is not too deep within Georgetown – you are close to Dupont Circle and the things going on there. The space itself has some great features like a fireplace, TV included (?!), fully equipped kitchen. Really great value here.
Why you might think twice: Though it could be worse, Georgetown is somewhat separate from other things going on in the city – farther walk to metro. Looks like there is also no central AC/heating.
Quick stats: [square feet not listed]
0.3 miles / 6 minutes walk to nearest metro (Dupont Circle)
The drill: Really charming property here. The price point is absolutely incredible – though not entirely how much space there is based on the information provided. Nevertheless, excellent photos show how wonderful the features are. Open concept with hardwood floors, full kitchen, and my personal favorite touch: the bathtub. Property is close to Dupont Circle and lots of happening places in Adams Morgan!
Why you might think twice: No square footage is listed. Looks like there is also no central AC/heating system.
