Open House Roundup

I have received a few notes from readers asking about the recent lack of content. As you probably realize, running the site takes a ton of work. In an effort to put the fun back into posting, I am writing only when the mood strikes. I hope these little spurts of content keep you coming back. For now, here are my open house picks for the weekend. Email me for more details.

Affordable Art Deco in Glover Park: $289,900

I featured a similar unit in Glover Park a few weeks ago for only $199k. It sold for over asking– shocker. I wouldn’t be surprised if the price jumps on this unit as well. It is a spacious 650 square feet and is updated enough to move in ASAP, yet there are some opportunities for upgrades. The downside is no parking. Without metro access, having a car really comes in handy in this neighborhood.

Nicely Updated One Bedroom in Pretty Petworth Building: $300,000

GetMedia-1

If you can’t get on the Glover Park train but still have a limited budget, try out this place in Petworth. It’s just as spacious and has the same garden style building feel. Plus the obvious bonus of metro accessibility. This unit has been nicely updated without feeling overly modern. Don’t miss the huge walk-in closet.

Cozy Exposed Brick Condo Near the Convention Center: $314,999

GetMedia-2

Don’t be fooled. This place isn’t that big. To maximize space the kitchen occupies just one wall in the living space. I kinda hate this layout but once this place is yours you can make changes. I had to feature this place because of the big, beautiful exposed brick master. Overall this is a decent deal for being so close to downtown.

Wood Burning Fireplace and Private Patio in Peaceful Kalorama Mews: $350,000

GetMedia-3

Kalorama Mews is one my favorite little developments. It is private, quiet, and all within walking distance to great shops and restaurants. This first level unit features a fireplace and a spacious private patio. Its just under 500 square feet so it’s definitely cozy but certainly comfortable.

Kalorama Penthouse with Potential: $499,000

GetMedia-4

Another example of how some sweat equity could make this purchase worth your while. This is an awesome space featuring one bedroom and one and a half baths. The whole unit is carpeted which isn’t idea but again, this is an easy fix. The living room has a fireplace and beautiful windows. The kitchen and bathrooms need some love.

Two Level Penthouse Unit in Kalorama: $645,000

GetMedia-5

With over 1000 square feet of space, two levels, and two bathrooms, this condo has plenty of room to grow into. Located on a quiet street, you get a charming neighborhood with a contemporary unit. The biggest draw for me is the amount of light and access to outdoor space. There are two Juliet balconies. The one downside is that this is a townhouse conversation with a pop-up. Pop-ups drive me crazy but in this limited market, you have to pick your battles.

Can’t Say No to a Bungalow: $638,500

GetMedia-6

I don’t know what it is about bungalows but I love them. I suppose it is because I am not used to seeing them around DC, especially near downtown. They are charming, quirky, and always feel well lived in. This one has so many sweet little nooks. If you are willing to treck out to Woodridge, this place is for you. FYI, I have seen this house pop up on a few “must-see” lists already. Competition will be stiff.
